How to operate and link the VE4WRS repeater

VE4WRS Node Connection Guide

Normal Operation

VE4WRS is normally connected to the Canada Hub (node 517301), providing coast-to-coast linking for general use.

You can see the current connections for VE4WRS at the bottom of the page on monitor.ramb.ca, our AllMon dashboard.

During RAM Nets

At scheduled net times, the node automatically switches to the Winnipeg Hub (node 478793) and reverts to the Canada Hub when the net concludes. No operator intervention is required.

Connecting to a Custom Node or Hub

Any RAM member is welcome to connect VE4WRS to other nodes or hubs outside of scheduled net times. Please follow the procedure below.

Before you begin, confirm that:

  • No other RAM members are currently using the repeater
  • You are not within a scheduled net time (see the nets schedule)

Procedure:

  1. Announce your callsign and intentions on the repeater
  2. Enter *806 to disconnect all current links
  3. Enter *813 followed by the node number to permanently connect to your desired node
    • Example: *813512345 to connect to node 512345
  4. When finished, enter *521 to reconnect the Canada Hub

*521 is a shortcut macro that runs *806 *813517301 — it disconnects all links and permanently reconnects the Canada Hub in one step.
