Schedule and Cost
📅 Course Dates
The course runs for 11 weeks, beginning Saturday, January 10th, 2026, and concluding with the final examination on Saturday, March 28th, 2026. Please note that there will be no class during the Manitoba Family Day long weekend in February.
Time
In-Person: Classes are held every Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Winnipeg Senior Citizens Radio Club (2nd floor, 598 St. Mary’s Road, Winnipeg).
Remote Option: A Zoom link is available for students outside of Winnipeg.
Duration: Each class runs 4-5 hours, with the final examination scheduled for week 11.
💵 Course Fees
Course with Textbook: $180.00 CAD (includes the Canadian Amateur Radio Basic Qualification Study Guide with $10 discount and final examination fee)
Course Only: $105.00 CAD (includes final examination fee)

Our courses are led by Head Instructor Drago Lambeta, supported by a dedicated team of highly experienced and knowledgeable volunteers who deliver engaging weekly lessons. Our commitment is to provide comprehensive instruction that equips every student with the knowledge and confidence to succeed on the final examination and join the amateur radio community.

- Valid Canadian mailing address
- No minimum age requirement
- Canadian Amateur Radio Basic Qualification Study Guide (included with course registration or available separately)
- Valid email address for receiving course materials and handouts
📝 Examination and Certification
All students write the same Basic Qualification examination at the end of the course. Your certification level is determined by your exam score:
Basic Qualification (70-79%): Allows you to operate on all amateur radio frequencies above 30 MHz.
Basic with Honours Qualification (80-100%): Allows you to operate on all amateur radio frequencies, including those above 30 MHz.
