Schedule and Cost

Date

The course will be held Saturdays starting September 7th, 2024, with the final exam being written on December 7th, 2024.

Time

Classes will be held on Saturdays at 09:00 AM at the Winnipeg Senior Citizens Radio Club on the 2nd floor, 598 St. Mary’s Road, Winnipeg. A Zoom option is available for those outside of Winnipeg.

Cost

The registration fee for the course is $150.00 which includes the Canadian Amateur Radio Basic Qualification Study Guide textbook ($85.00 for the course and $65.00 for the textbook). An additional $20 will be charged by the examiner at the end of the course on exam day to cover the administrative costs of the exam. Textbooks will be provided at the beginning of the course.

Textbooks can be purchased separately for self-study ahead of time and are available for pickup at a cost of $65.00

Payment can be made in person by cash on the first day of class, or prior to the start date by signing up via the paypal form below. All prices include tax.

Instruction

Our Head instructor is Drago Lambeta and he leads a team of highly experienced and knowledgeable volunteers who give the weekly lessons. Our goal is to make sure we provide enough instruction that everyone passes the final exam so we can continue to expand our HAM community.

  • Canadian basic qualification study guide
  • A valid email address to receive electronic hand-outs

Exam Details

Basic Qualification requires a minimum of 70% on the final exam and allows you to operate on all frequencies above 30 Mhz in the amateur bands.

Basic with Honours Qualification requires a minimum of 80% on the final exam allowing you to operate on all frequencies in the amateur bands.
