Repeater Update

VE4WRS Hub Configuration Change

VE4WRS repeater has been reconfigured to connect to Canada Hub 2 West by default

Effective immediately, the VE4WRS repeater (145.450 MHz) has been reconfigured with a new default hub connection.

What’s Changed

Default Connection: VE4WRS will now be connected to Canada Hub 2 West by default, instead of the Winnipeg or Manitoba Hub.

Automatic Net Connections: During VE4WSC and RAM nets, VE4WRS will automatically disconnect from Canada Hub 2 West and connect to the Winnipeg Hub to participate in local nets. After the net concludes, it will automatically revert back to Canada Hub 2 West.

User Flexibility

If you want to connect to another hub or node, you are welcome to disconnect from Canada Hub 2 West and connect to any other node. Please return the repeater to Canada Hub 2 West when you are done.

Why This Change?

This configuration allows VE4WRS to provide broader connectivity to the Canada-wide amateur radio network while still maintaining automatic connections for local Manitoba nets and activities.

What This Means For You

  • Regular use: VE4WRS is connected to Canada Hub 2 West for access to the Canada-wide network
  • During VE4WSC and RAM nets: No action needed - the repeater will automatically connect to the Winnipeg Hub and revert back afterwards
  • Manual connections: You can disconnect and connect to other nodes, just remember to reconnect to Canada Hub 2 West when finished
  • Other repeaters: No changes to other RAM repeaters
