VE4EMB Hadashville Repeater Restored to Service

On Saturday, December 6th, members of the RAM technical committee ventured out in brisk -18°C temperatures to restore the VE4EMB Hadashville repeater to full operation.

Repeater Site Work

The crew began at the main repeater site where a simple power cycle successfully brought the repeater back online. Taking advantage of being on-site, the team conducted a thorough inspection of all equipment looking for signs of physical damage. Local radio checks confirmed the repeater was functioning properly.

Remote Link Site Restoration

The team then proceeded to the remote site housing the half-duplex AllstarLink radio and networking equipment. Earlier in the month, system operators had lost connectivity to the router at this location, requiring local investigation to diagnose the issue.

On-site testing confirmed that internet connectivity was available, but there was a problem with the tunnel network configuration. The team suspects that ISP configuration changes caused the connectivity loss. Working collaboratively with remote members providing support, the on-site crew reconfigured the network tunnel and successfully re-established connectivity to the data centre. This restoration brought AllstarLink connectivity back to the Hadashville repeater.

This successful restoration demonstrates the value of both field personnel willing to brave harsh winter conditions and remote technical support working together to maintain critical amateur radio infrastructure.
