Equipment Installation at Marion Site

RAM technical crew completes major equipment installation at Marion site, establishing infrastructure for VA4STB repeater and future network expansion.

The RAM technical crew completed a significant milestone at the Marion repeater site, finishing the grunt work on the north side of the building. This installation lays the groundwork for the new VA4STB repeater and future network expansion.

Installation Details

Building on the mounting brackets installed a few weeks ago, the crew successfully installed:

  • Main mast and pole-to-pole mount
  • 3.8 GHz radio and dish antenna for network backhaul
  • Site camera
  • UHF 8-bay antenna
  • Dual-band vertical antenna for APRS (temporary installation)

Next Steps

The networking team will now configure the data connections to bring the site online. A D-STAR UHF repeater will be installed and transcoded to the AllStar network. The callsign for this repeater is still to be determined.

Future plans include establishing microwave links to the Winnipeg Senior Citizens Radio Club (VE4WSC) clubhouse and the VE4WDR site at 55 Nassau, as well as a new site in Elmwood, further expanding RAM’s network coverage and redundancy.
