Emergency Repairs at Hadashville Site
Following a report from Rob VE4CA that the access door to our equipment enclosure at the VE4EMB repeater site had been blown inward by recent high winds, Derek VE4HAY and Andrew VE4KL conducted an emergency work party to secure the structure for winter.
The existing tin garden shed doors were not sealing properly, allowing snow and weather to potentially damage equipment inside. The crew installed a reinforced plywood door over the existing tin doors using 2x4 framing to provide better weather protection through the winter months.
Despite the 1 hour and 20 minute drive each way to the remote Hadashville location, the repair work was completed in approximately 30 minutes, ensuring our equipment remains protected from the elements. Not bad carpentry for a couple of radio nerds!
The crew also took the opportunity to gather measurements for a site plan to evaluate the possible replacement of the equipment shed with a new structure. Further investigation and planning will continue on this front.
We appreciate VE4CA for reporting the issue and enabling a quick response to protect this critical infrastructure.
If you notice any issues with RAM equipment or repeaters, please report them using our equipment issue report form. Your reports help us maintain reliable service for all members.
