VA4WAN: Manitoba’s Amateur Radio Data Network

VA4WAN is a high-speed IP network operated by the Radio Amateurs of Manitoba (RAM), linking amateur radio infrastructure across Manitoba.
Using point-to-point links on the 2.3 GHz and 5.8 GHz amateur bands, the network connects repeater sites and supports services like AllStarLink, APRS-IS, and remote site access. VA4WAN maintains a point of presence in a commercial colocation facility, with intra-rack fiber and commercial-grade routing hardware. It is allocated two /24 subnets from AMPRNet and is globally routable via BGP. All infrastructure is built and maintained by RAM’s volunteer technical committee.
