Technical Committee Update

VE4WPG Disconnected from Winnipeg Hub

The VE4WPG repeater remains on the air but is temporarily disconnected from the Manitoba AllStar link network while filtering upgrades are prepared.

Effective immediately, the VE4WPG repeater will remain on the air but will be disconnected from the Winnipeg Hub and the Manitoba AllStar link network.

This change is due to an intermittent issue tied to a new FM broadcaster approved last year and recently installed at the Richardson Centre site that hosts VE4WPG. That new broadcaster, combined with another nearby FM broadcaster, is creating third‑order intermodulation products that interact with our system due to the 600 kHz repeater shift. The technical crew is preparing new cavity filters to improve isolation and reduce this interference. We are also searching for a circulator tuned to our frequency, but these are rare in the amateur bands due to tight tolerances and RAM does not currently own one. If you have leads on a suitable circulator, please contact tech@ramb.ca.

What This Means

  • VE4WPG is still available for local use.
  • VE4WPG will not connect to the Manitoba AllStar link network until further notice.

Net Participation

For the WSC Weekday Morning Net, WSC Saturday Morning Net, and RAM Evening Net, please use:

  • VA4STC
  • VE4ACX
  • VE4WRS
  • VE4CNR

Any other repeater connected to the Manitoba AllStar link system is also acceptable.

We will share an update once the filtering work is completed and VE4WPG is ready to reconnect.
